CMHAVB offers two series of eductional courses:

* Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
* Responding with Respect (RwR)

CMHA - Vancouver-Burnaby is now offering Mental Health First Aid, an award-winning course teaches the first aid skills to assist someone showing signs of developing a mental health problem or who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Upcoming workshop dates:

* April 17 & 24
* May 5, 12, 19 & 26
* June 5 & 6

The 12 hour* course instructs participants in:

  • Recognizing the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
  • Basic actions for mental health first aid
  • How to provide help in order to prevent more serious problems from developing
  • Information about effective interventions and treatments
  • How to access help and resources

*Certificates are provided to those who attend the full 12 hours.

Responding with Respect 

Responding with Respect is a series of courses offered to the general public to gain a better understanding of
mental illnesses and the basic skills and knowledge
