Announcing an exciting new art program for Burnaby, New Westminster and TriCities!
My Artist's Corner (MAC) is a new art program for adults with mental health issues who live in Burnaby, New Westminster, and TriCities. MAC is a one year pilot project that is a partnership between mental health consumers, Fraser Health Authority and Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Vancouver- Burnaby. These partners are excited about this program because:
- it will provide art instruction in acrylic painting, watercolour painting, and drawing
- there will be open studio time for artists to work on their own projects
- we will have an Annual Art Show
- there will be one-day workshops
- we will be able to learn from Guest Artists
- MAC is a member-driven program with many volunteer opportunities

The MAC Essentials
Our Mission Statement:
MAC will improve the quality of life of adults with mental health issues, by creating a place that is safe, affordable, and welcoming for them to produce, display and sell art.
What: A new art program, My Artist's Corner, or MAC.
Who: For adults with mental health issues who live in Burnaby, New Westminster, and TriCities.
Where: The program operates in the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Edmonds Recreation Facility, at 109-7355 Canada Way, Burnaby.
When: MAC is open on Mondays and Fridays, providing either morning or afternoon classes for our members. Watch for announcements of our courses, one-day workshops, presentations by guest artists.
Why: People with mental health issues can face several barriers which interfere with the ability to create art, including lack of space, cost of materials, need for instruction and difficulty in motivating themselves when they are alone. MAC participants will have the opportunity to learn new skills (or improve their current skills). The program will also provide assistance to sell the art and connect with the general art community.
How to become a member of MAC:
- You must first become a registered member. You can download the Membership Application Form here.
- You will need to fill out the Membership Application form and pay a one time $5 registration fee.
- You will need a referral from a mental health or health professional. Take the Application Form for their signature, it’s that simple!
- There will be a small supply fee per course.
- Members must attend at least one art course before attending the open studio.
MAC Art Courses
- Classes will be 3 hours long, with 4 to 6 classes to a course.
